THE IRIS '25
The term IRIS is one that is a kaleidoscope in itself. Just as it draws its roots from the Greek Goddess of Rainbows and the Messenger for the Gods, illuminating its literary foundation, it brings to mind the vibrant image of the bright purple flowers of the same name, highlighting the liveliness the literary festival wishes to exude. It is a representation of the iris of every human eye that allows us to view colour, and honours the beauty that lies in the glorious variety of human perception.
The Iris Literary Festival incorporates all the facets of its name to provide a sanctuary for all to explore the vastness of their individual creative ability through the forces of literature and varied imaginativeness, and bring diverse young minds together in a celebration of expression and creativity.

The Iris aims to take young creative individuals on a literary adventure like no other, encouraging all kinds of artistic endeavours. We hope to challenge the participants’ way of thinking and motivate them to look past their own outlook to view a glorious panorama of perspectives.
Expression is the backbone of Shikshantar, and we look forward to introducing fellow schools to our world of free exploration, questioning and sharing of insight.

The IRIS 2025 Events:
The IRIS prides itself on curating events that look beyond the mundane literary lens to provide its participants an experience filled with intellectual engagement and creative enjoyment, and for its third edition, we hope to uphold this legacy by bringing forth a collection of events that will combine aspects of the literary world that are most beloved- analysis, interpretation, imagination, creation and inquiry.
With distinct events for grades VII-XII, the IRIS ‘25 hopes to explore the everlasting dialogue between art, creative writing, performance and debate to see it all come to life!

FOR GRADES VII & VIII
The IRIS is a place for free expression and creative exploration, and for grades VIIth & VIIIth, we hope to nurture instinctive creativity by letting participants’ imagination take form without obstruction in our two events. In one, they will take inspiration from a poem to craft an artistic depiction of its central scene, while in another, they will be given intriguing prompts to create their own deity and write their very own myth!
The IRIS is a place for free expression and creative exploration, and for grades VIIth & VIIIth, we hope to nurture instinctive creativity by letting participants’ imagination take form without obstruction in our two events. FOR GRADES IX & X
The literary realm is based on creation, interpretation and perspective, and the IRIS aims to provide grades IXth and Xth a chance to flaunt and enrich their interpretive and imaginative talents with three events- one of which asks them to meticulously create a written piece centered around a painting that is gradually revealed to them in fragments, another where all must argue for and against peculiar topics in Hindi, and one more where they all must embody various mythological characters to form a 'Parliament of Deities' and debate to resolve issues that transcend time!

In one of our events, our participants will have a chance to use a range of literary prompts to create a layered, original piece, and in the other, historically banned books will be put on trial, with the participants serving to defend and question!
